Therapy Room Hire in
Fitzrovia, Central London W1
A space built from experience
Therapy Rooms Central London was founded by Matthew Frener, an integrative psychotherapist who grew tired of the compromises that came with hiring rooms on an ad hoc basis.
For years, the therapy room rental market has operated like a budget airline or a chain gym: high turnover, clinical grey interiors, and a transactional approach that treats both practitioners and their clients as afterthoughts. Thin tissues that tear as you pull them from the box. Waiting areas shared between practitioners. Clients arriving to find their therapist waiting beside them in a corridor, neither of them with the space or privacy to prepare for the work ahead.
The moment that changed everything came in one of those waiting areas. A client arrived early. The therapist in the room before Matthew had run over. There was no buffer, no privacy, no time to ground, just an awkward, very human moment in a space that had been designed with none of that in mind. It was the final straw.
Matthew set out to create something different. A space that reflected the quality of therapeutic work rather than undermining it. Somewhere with warmth, character, and considered design, decorated not in corporate grey but in tones that feel human, calm, and welcoming. A room where a practitioner could arrive early, settle, breathe, and be ready, on their own terms, in their own time.
Why Fitzrovia
Fitzrovia was a deliberate choice. Centrally located and exceptionally well connected, it sits at the heart of London's transport network, easy to reach from almost anywhere in the city. But the neighbourhood means more than convenience.
Fitzrovia sits close to Soho, London's LGBTQ+ heart, and to the theatreland of the West End, two places that hold deep personal significance for Matthew, who came to psychotherapy from a background in the arts. There is a creative, open, and culturally rich character to this part of London that feels right for a practice space built on the same values. It is a neighbourhood of substance, history, and warmth, and the building on Margaret Street embodies all of that.
The Building
The room is set within a beautifully preserved Grade II listed building on Margaret Street, W1. It is the kind of building that has genuine character, chic, stylish, and full of the warmth that so many purpose-built therapy room centres conspicuously lack. Located on the third floor with lift access, it offers a sense of arrival that feels considered and professional from the moment you step inside.
This is not a tired, dilapidated conversion run by a growing company more interested in occupancy rates than practitioner experience. It is a space that has been chosen and curated with care, and it shows.
The Room
The therapy room itself has been thoughtfully furnished to support the full range of clinical work. Natural light, comfortable seating, and warm tones create an atmosphere that feels both professional and deeply human. Every detail has been considered, from the quality of the tissues to the fullness of the sandtray.
The room is suitable for one-to-one therapy, couples work, family sessions, online practice, and small group work or workshops.
There is also flexibility to hire a larger space when needed for group work, subject to an additional fee.
Therapeutic Resources
The room is stocked with everything a practitioner needs, including:
-
A full-size sandtray (Dora Kalff classic tray, AIST compliant) with 300+ figurines, crystals and shells
-
A writing desk and separate laptop stand if you wish to take online calls from the sofa instead of the desk!
-
Creative materials and arts and crafts, including pencils, pens, crayons, paper, clay and soft modelling
-
Sensory toys
-
Tissues... the good kind
Building Amenities
The building has been chosen as much for its amenities as its character. Practitioners and their clients benefit from:
24-hour access, seven days a week
Weekday reception services from 9am to 5pm
Air conditioning and fresh airflow
Secure Wi-Fi
Showers
A kitchen and communal breakout area
Complimentary barista-style coffee
Dog friendly
The building and office are fully dog-friendly, provided your dog is toilet-trained. Whether it is you or your client who brings a four-legged companion, they are welcome here.
Who this space is for
This room is for practitioners who care about where they work. For therapists, counsellors, psychologists, coaches, and wellness practitioners who have sat in enough grey waiting rooms, used enough thin tissues, and arrived at enough sessions without the time or space to prepare, and who believe their clients deserve better too.
If that sounds like you, and you're registered or accredited with BACP, UKCP, BPS, HCPC, or similar, this might be a space for you.
